Quality of Work Life, Organizational Commitment and Organizational Citizenship Behavior of Teaching Staff in Higher Education Institutions

Öz

This study aims to find out the levels of quality of work life, organizational commitment, and organizational citizenship behavior of teaching staff working in higher education institutions. Moreover, the secondary objective of the study was to determine the correlation among the variables mentioned above. In compliance with the study's objectives, data was collected using questionnaires related to teaching staff’s perceptions. In the study, the quantitative correlational model was utilized. The study group of the research consisted of 320 academics working in foundation and state universities in Turkey. The data were gathered by means of an online survey, on a voluntary basis, with a random, easily accessible sampling method. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis was carried out by using SPSS. Analysis of the data showed that both quality of work life and organizational citizenship behavior of teaching staff were high while their level of organizational commitment was moderate. Moreover, correlation analysis revealed that there was a strong positive correlation between the quality of work life and organizational commitment, a moderate positive correlation between the quality of work life and organizational citizenship behavior, and a moderate positive correlation between organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior.
