Research on Relationship Between Work Values and Career Choice of First-Year College Students
Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the work values of the first-year students in Faculty of Health Sciences with regard to their departments and view it‟s relationship with their career choice. For this purpose, data are collected from 585 first year students who study Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Speech And Language Therapy, Midwifery, Ergotherapy, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Audiology, Orthotics- Prosthetics, Health Management, Social Service at Faculty of Health Scicence of Istanbul Medipol University by using Work Values Inventory and Career Choice Inventory Survey. Findings in this study indicated that while the most important work valuesare “change” and “life style”, the most important career choice is “researcher” for thestudent.
