Multiple Intelligence as a Predictor of the Entrepreneurial Characteristics of Prospective Science Teachers

Abstract

In recent years, one of the most notable concepts in teacher education has been entrepreneurship. Research on entrepreneurship in teacher education is carried out mostly in science education as a teaching field. Therefore, it can be said that the variables affecting the entrepreneurial characteristics of prospective science teachers should be determined. It is assumed that one of these variables is multiple intelligence. The purpose of this research is to determine the predictability of multiple intelligence areas on the entrepreneurial characteristics of prospective science teachers. The research was designed according to the correlational survey model. "Multiple Intelligence Fields for Educators" and "Entrepreneurship Scale for Teacher Candidates" were used as data collection tools. The analysis of the data utilized a stepwise multiple regression analysis. As a result of the research, it was determined that the visual intelligence field is important predictor variable the entrepreneurial characteristics of prospective science teachers, followed by logical intelligence, kinesthetic intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, verbal intelligence and social intelligence. However, the musical intelligence and naturalistic intelligence fields are not a statistically significant predictor variable on the entrepreneurial characteristics of the prospective science teachers. Empirical research can be conducted to examine the effects of the visual intelligence based instructional processes on entrepreneurial characteristics.
