LOCAL NAMES OF SOME PLANTS FROM THE SOUTH PART OF İZMIT (NORTHWEST TURKEY)

Abstract

An ethnobotanical survey was carried out in the south part of İzmit between April 2006 and September 2007. This survey has an aim to identify the traditional usage of the plants in the south part of İzmit, which is the centre county of Kocaeli. During this survey, besides to the usage of the wild flowering plants, their local names are also determined. This paper presents a list of the local names of wild useful plants that grow in the south part of İzmit.
