REFLECTIONS OF THE DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD OF PHYSICS ON SOCIOLOGY: POSITIVISM
Abstract
As long as sociology is shaped as a science the way of doing sociology science has become positivism. In this study, sociological reflections of developments in physics investigated in the context of positivistic approach. The classical period of physics reflects positivism as a form of dominant science in sociological studies. The developments in modern physics brought about the debates of verifiability and falsifiability in the context of positivism. Einstein's thoughts on relativity have provided a debate on different forms of science in sociology. Thus, The way of doing science that are shaped around the concept of paradigm have been accepted. The way of doing science accepted by the concept of paradigm, has broken the dominates of positivism on it. As a result, developments in physics have triggered a process of change in the field of sociology that continues until the rejection of methods.
