The Journal ‘Olba’, being published since 1998 by the ‘Research Center of Cilician Archeology’ of the Mersin University (Turkey), includes original studies on Prehistory, Protohistory, Classical Archaeology, Classical Philology (and ancient languages and cultures), Ancient History, Numismatics and Early Christian Archeology (up till the 7th century AD) of Asia Minor, the Mediterranean and related regions.
-The Journal ‘Olba’, is published once a year in May.
-Articles must be uploaded to DergiPark between August 31st and October 31st. Articles submitted by any other method will not be considered.
-Authors will be informed of the Editorial Board's evaluation in November. The process for submitting manuscripts to reviewers is expected to be completed in January.
-It is not appropriate for the same author to publish two consecutive issues. This principle also applies if there are different common names.
-Articles are expected to not exceed 10,000 words (including abstract, references, and footnotes). Figures should be around 15 in total.
-Articles written in the fields of Prehistory, Protohistory, Classical Archaeology, Classical Philology (and Ancient Languages and Cultures), Ancient History, Numismatics and Early Christian Archaeology (up to the 7th century AD) are considered for publication.
-The Journal ‘Olba’, is a scientific periodical representing the discipline of archaeology. Therefore, archaeological evaluation is expected to be prioritized in articles whose data are generated through collaboration between different disciplines (such as Surveying Engineering, Architecture, Archaeometry, Geophysics, and Anthropology).
-Articles should be based on a research question/problem, beyond their promotional or catalogue nature, and should be supported by concrete evidence and arguments, with content that discusses data and establishes connections. Archaeological materials, catalogs, reports, and compilations that lack discussion and are disjointed from their context are not eligible for publication in the Journal ‘Olba’.
-The following points are expected to be taken into consideration: • A research problem and method must be stated in the introduction sections of articles.• General information such as excavation history, research history, and material literature should not be included in a way that overshadows the research problem and the materials used to support it.• Articles should not be solely for presentation purposes, cataloging, describing, and dating the finds.• It is expected that archaeological finds will be related to their context and used to solve the research problem.• Literature surveys are always expected to introduce new ideas.• Articles derived from master's and doctoral theses should be developed with new findings, and this should be stated within the article. • The names of people who did not contribute to the article should not be written as authors. • Authors are expected to be related to the subject area submitted for publication. • Articles derived from master's and doctoral theses will not be considered for evaluation.
-A work/publication permit is required for each article. This document must be uploaded to the system during the article application process. Articles containing finds from excavations and archaeological surveys require a license from the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums and written permission from the head of the Excavation and Archaeological Survey. Articles containing finds from archaeological excavations conducted under the direction of museums must obtain written permission from the Museum Directorates.
- Similarity rates (Ithenticates) for articles submitted for publication are expected to be at an acceptable level for a research article (below 10%).
-Submitted articles must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication by another journal.
-If the article contains previously published text, tables, or images, it is necessary to obtain written permission from the copyright holder and the authors and include this in the article. The author(s) are responsible for ensuring that the necessary permissions are obtained.
-OLBA Journal does not charge a publication fee. Articles published in the journal are openly accessible through DergiPark.
