HOW FINANCIAL REPORTS PERCEIVED BY THE BOARD MEMBERS?

Abstract

Purpose- The increasing number of professional executives on the boards of directors and the increasingly difficult competitive market conditions encourage to boost both the performance of the company and the performance of the executives. Methodolog- Analytics of financial statements is examined to serve the needs of board of director. Findings- Financial reports, which are deemed company performance outputs for the board of directors and other stakeholders, may contain deceptive or guiding data. In order to show the company performance better than it is; misleading and guiding accounting methods may be used in financial reports, income and expenses may be shifted between reporting periods and transactions open to interpretation may be interpreted without objectivity and recorded in accounting records. Conclusion- In this study, from the point of view of the board of directors, issues that may raise awareness against misleading and directive financial reporting are highlighted
