This paper examines the reasons behind the financial turmoil the Turkish economy is witnessing, as well as analyzes the steps taken by the government, institutions, and the economic administration. It taps, also, into possible actions that can turn these financial disruptions into opportunities. This paper argues that the economic foundations cannot be relied upon to explain the current disruptions, for the United States, which is considered as the major player in the international financial system, is exerting pressures on Turkey to breaking down its steadfastness and hampering its progress through economic sanctions in addition to the political and human rights interventions. It argues also that the fast achievement of reforms that strengthen the real sector in the upcoming period will increase the economy's resistance to potential external shocks and ensure Turkey's transcending this period safely.
