Pesticide residues and total antioxidant capacity of organic and non-organic apples and farmers
Abstract
Pesticide residues and total antioxidant capacity were investigated and compared in apples produced using pesticides and organically produced apples and in blood serums of people (they were working in the production of apples). In the research, were examined the 60 farm workers and the 60 apple samples produced by these workers. In the determination of pesticide residues was used gas chromatography (GC) device. In determining of TAC was used spectrophotometer. In chromatographic analysis, identified chlorpyriphos residues in 5 apples. For this reason, apples are the last application of chlorpyriphos before the harvest. Apples obtained from fertilizer garden were not found pesticide residues. Pesticide residues have not been determined in the bloods of 60 agricultural workers. In the spectrophotometric analysis found no significant difference (p>0.05) in between the two group samples in terms of TAC. However, determined to be significantly decreased (p<0.05) in TAC compared with in produced workers fertilizer apples workers and pesticide apples. These results show that applications of pesticide not cause a change in the apples in the total antioxidant capacity.
