Architecture Building Material Education Word Association Test Concept Map Factory Visit
This study aims to investigate the contribution of factory visits to the increase of knowledge of materials among architecture students and identify the possibility of using word association tests and concept maps in the evaluation of knowledge of materials among architecture students. Ceramic materials have been selected for close examination. In the scope of the study, students had to take a word association test both before and after the factory visit. Subsequently, concept maps were created based on the students' answers to selected key concepts. Results of the study have shown that the students' level of knowledge of the material has increased significantly due to the factory visit. Moreover, the study has shown that word association tests and concept maps are usable in material training in architecture as an identification, evaluation and change strategy.
