18-40 Yaş Arası Yetişkin Hastalarda Kişisel Faktörler ve Günlük Alışkanlıkların Mevcut Diş Rengi Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmada hastaların; yaş, cinsiyet, eğitim durumları gibi sosyodemografik bilgileri, diş hekimine gitme sıklığı, diş fırçalama sıklığı, gargara kullanımı, beyazlatıcı diş macunu kullanımı gibi ağız bakım alışkanlıkları ve sigara, çay, kahve, renklendirici/ asitli içecek içme sıklığı gibi günlük alışkanlıklarına ait verilerin hastaların mevcut diş rengine etkisini araştırmak amaçlanmıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntemler: Rutin klinik muayenelerde 18-40 yaş arası 240 gönüllü hasta belirlenmiştir. Anket formu doldurtularak hastalara ait bilgiler elde edilmiştir. Spektrofotometreyle klinik ortamda her hastanın üst sağ 1. kesici dişlerin orta üçlülerinden renk ölçümleri, aynı kişi tarafından yapılmıştır. İstatistiksel analizler SPSS paket programında; One way Anova analizi, Independent t-testi, frekans analizi ile değerlendirilmiştir. İstatistiksel olarak p<0,05 değeri anlamlı kabul edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Diş fırçalama sıklığı azaldıkça, sigara kullanım sıklığı, kahve içme sıklığı, asitli/renklendirici içecek içme sıklığı arttıkça, eğitim seviyesi düştükçe mevcut diş rengi koyulaşmaktadır ve bu farklar istatistiksel olarak anlamlıdır. Çay içme sıklığı arttıkça diş rengi renk koyulaşmaktadır ancak anlamlı bir düzeyde değildir. Yaş arttıkça diş rengi koyulaşmaktadır ancak anlamlı bir düzeyde değildir. Gargara, beyazlatıcı diş macununu kullanan bireylerde diş rengi daha açık bulunmuştur ancak anlamlı bir düzeyde değildir. Diş hekimine gitme sıklığı azaldıkça diş rengi koyulaşmaktadır ancak anlamlı düzeyde değildir.
Sonuçlar: Dişlerde renk değişikliğine en fazla sebep olan faktörler hastaların sigara içme alışkanlıkları, kahve tüketimi ve diş fırçalama sıklığı olduğu belirleniştir.

The Effect of Personal Factors and Daily Habits on the Current Tooth Color in Adult Patients Aged 18-40 Years

Abstract

Aim: This study aims to investigate the effect of patients' sociodemographic informations, oral hygiene habits such as frequency of dental visits, frequency of tooth brushing, use of mouthwash, use of whitening toothpaste, and daily habits such as smoking, tea, coffee, and frequency of consuming coloring/acidic beverages on the current tooth color of patients.
Methodology: A total of 240 volunteer patients between the ages of 18-40 were included in the study during routine clinical examinations. Data were obtained by filling out a questionnaire. Color measurements of the upper right central incisors of each patient were made in the clinical setting using a spectrophotometer. Statistical analyses were evaluated using the SPSS package program, including One-way ANOVA analysis, Independent t-test, and frequency analysis. A statistically significant value of p<0.05 was considered.
Results: As the frequency of tooth brushing decreases, the frequency of smoking, coffee consumption, and acidic/coloring beverage consumption increases, and the current tooth color darkens, which is statistically significant. The frequency of tea consumption results in darker tooth color, but it is not statistically significant. Tooth color darkens with age, but not significantly. Individuals using mouthwash and whitening toothpaste have lighter tooth color, but it is not statistically significant. As the frequency of dental visits decreases, tooth color darkens, but not statistically significantly.
Conclusion: This study highlights that the most prominent factors contributing to tooth darkening are smoking habits, coffee consumption, and brushing frequency.
