Makale kapsamında İzmir Arkeoloji Müzesi envanterine kayıtlı on beş bronz eser incelenmiştir. Çalışılan eserler aydınlatma araçları ve buhurdanlar olmak üzere iki farklı grup altında değerlendirilmiştir. Müzede bulunan aydınlatma araçları; kandiller, kandilin üzerine oturduğu kandelabrum gövdesi, yağ haznesi parçaları ve polykandilion askısı olmak üzere sınıflandırılmıştır. Bizans dönemine tarihlenen bronz kandiller; evlerin, resmi binaların ve kiliselerin aydınlatılmasında kullanılmıştır. Bizans İmparatorluğu dönemine tarihlenen bronz buhurdanlar, kısaca ayin esnasında kokulu bitkilerin ve ağaç kabukların yakıldığı kaplardır. Bizans döneminde buhurdanlar, farklı törenler ve ayinlerde kullanılmıştır. Bizans toplumunun günlük yaşamında yer alan geleneksel objesi konumundadır. Bir örnek dışında buluntu yerleri bilinmeyen, müzeye satın alma ve müsadere yoluyla kazandırılan bu eserlerin tarihlendirme önerileri de çok yakın benzerleri üzerinden yapılmıştır. Arkeolojik alanların Bizans tabakalarında olduğu kadar, müzeler ve özel koleksiyonlarda sıklıkla yer alan objeler Bizans günlük ve dini yaşamına ilişkin somut belgeler olarak Bizans yaşam kültürü ve alışkanlıklarını algılamayı kolaylaştırmaktadır. Makale içinde ayrıntılı olarak ele alınan bu eserler makale sonunda katalog bilgileri ile tanıtılmaktadır.

Within the scope of the article, fifteen bronze objects which are registered in İzmir Archeology Museum inventory were examined. The studied objects were evaluated under two different groups as lighting tools and incense burners. Lighting tools in the museum; classified as oil lamps, candelabrum body, oil reservoir parts and polycandelon hanger. Bronze oil lamps dating to the Byzantine period; used for lighting of houses, official buildings and churches. The bronze incense burners dating to the Byzantine Empire, in shortly definition incense as the vessels contained mixture of plants and the bark of trees burnt in. During the Byzantine period, incense burners were used in different ceremonies and rituals. The incense burner, which is also known to be used for the smell of places in daily life, is the traditional object of Byzantine society in daily life. Except for an example of finds place are unknown. They were through purchase and confiscation to the museum. The dating suggestions of these works were also made on very similar counterparts.
Eight oil lamps were introduced in the article. Oil lamps were examined under two groups according to the number of noses as one-nosed and multi-nosed. One-nosed oil lamps are also classified as their body shapes, round, flat round, and foot shaped. In the İzmir Archaeology Museum Collection, it is understood that the oil lamps are used in the three ways: 1-On the flat ground; 2-Mounted on the candelabrum; 3-Hanging by the chain.
In the article, pieces of candelabrum on which the oil lamps sit specified as body and oil reservoir. In addition, polycandelon used for the lighting of large areas. The hilly and the hanger of polycandelon are introduced in the article. Lighting tools and parts were produced in casting technique. Studied within the scope of the article, lighting tools registered in the inventory of the İzmir Archaeology Museum were dated to the 5.- 7. centuries. Incense burner is the other part of the article. The incense burners bodies identified as two different shapes they are hemispherical and hexagonal. Objects can be placed in 5.- 6. centuries. Incense burners were produced by casting technique and their decorations made by engraving technique.
Objects frequently found in museums and private collections as well as in the Byzantine layers of archaeological sites make it easier to perceive the Byzantine life culture and habits as concrete documents regarding Byzantine daily and religious life.
