Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between self-related wisdom perception and leisure attitudes among university students. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a correlational survey design. The study group consisted of undergraduate students who were actively enrolled at Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun during the 2024–2025 academic year. Participants’ ages ranged from 18 to 26 years, and the sample was selected through a convenience sampling method. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form developed by the researcher, the Self-Related Wisdom Scale adapted into Turkish by Özden Turgut and Serap Nazlı (2021), and the Short Form of the Leisure Attitude Scale adapted into Turkish by Levent Önal and Fatih Bedir (2023). Data analysis was performed using SPSS Statistics 30, employing Pearson Correlation Analysis, Independent Samples t-test, and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results indicated a significant positive relationship between self-related wisdom perception and leisure attitudes, ranging from moderate to strong. Furthermore, no significant differences were found in self-related wisdom perception or leisure attitudes according to gender, age, grade level, place of upbringing, or socioeconomic status. These findings highlight the close association between individuals’ perceptions of self-related wisdom and their attitudes toward leisure, underscoring the importance of personal wisdom in shaping leisure orientations.
