VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDIES OF THE EMOTIONS MANAGEMENT SKILLS SCALE (EMSS)

Öz

The purpose of this study is to develope a reliable and valid instrument to evaluate university students’ emotions management skills perception. The sample was consisted of 567 university students who attended University of Cukurova, Faculty of Education. Principal component analysis produced a solution six factor. These factors named respectively “Expression of emotions as a verbal”, “Recognizing and accepting emotions”, “Expression of emotions as spontaneously”, “Control of negative body response”, “Coping”,“ Management of anger”. For reliability; The Cronbach alpha coefficient was .83 for overall scale and orderly, for six subscales. 79, .60, 67, .65, .64, .62. Test-re-test reliability coefficient was .81 for three weeks. The results revealed that the scale has content, construct, discriminant and criterion validity.

Duyguları Yönetme Becerileri Ölçeğinin Geliştirilmesi: Geçerlik ve Güvenirlik Çalışmaları

Öz

Araştırmanın amacı, üniversite öğrencilerinin (genç yetişkin) duyguları yönetme beceri düzeylerine ilişkin algılarını ölçebilmek amacıyla geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçek geliştirmektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Çukurova Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinin farklı bölümlerinde okuyan toplam 567 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Uygulanan faktör analizi sonucu ölçeğin altı faktörlü bir yapı gösterdiği gözlenmiştir. Bu faktörler sırasıyla “Duyguları sözel olarak ifade edebilme”, “Duyguları tanıyabilme ve kabul”, “Duyguları olduğu gibi gösterebilme”,“ Olumsuz bedensel tepkileri control edebilme”, “Başaçıkma” ve “Öfkeyi yönetme”dir. Güvenirlik çalışmalarında ise iç tutarlık katsayıları tüm ölçek için. 83, alt ölçekler için sırasıyla. 79, .67, .65, .64 ve. 62; test-tekrar test güvenirlik katsayısı ise üç hafta ara ile. 81. olarak hesaplanmıştır. Bulgular ölçeğin geçerli ve güvenilir bir şekilde üniversite öğrencilerinin duygularını yönetme becerilerine ilişkin algılamalarını ölçebileceğini göstermektedir.
