Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to determine whether there is a difference among university students’ romantic relationship beliefs in regard to gender, grade level and dating status. The sample consisted of 957 (559 female, 398 male) undergraduate students attending a university during 20102011 academic year. Two instruments, namely, “Demographic Data Form” and “Romantic Beliefs Scale” adapted to Turkish were used in the present study. One way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test were used to analyze the data. The results of the study revealed that university student’ romantic relationship beliefs differed significantly in terms of gender, grade level and dating status. Specifically, males were significantly more likely to have beliefs about love finds a way and love at first sight than females. When grade level considered, it was observed that freshman and sophomore students have one and only and idealization beliefs more than the senior students. Lastly, when students’ romantic relationship experiences were taken into consideration, it was found that the students “experiencing a romantic relationship for the first time” were significantly more likely to have beliefs on love finds a way, one and only and idealization than the other three groups of students

Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Romantik İlişki İnançlarının Çeşitli Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

Year 2014, Volume: 5 Issue: 42, 0 - , 14.10.2014
