Corporate Social Responsibility; An Analysis of Ports’ Websites

Abstract

The goal of this study is to improve the knowledge of CSR practices in the port sector by investigating corporate websites. Since corporate websites have become an effective area to diffuse information about firms’ mission, vision, and strategies, it is believed that companies who are active in CSR issues will communicate through the internet and thus which themes are prevalent in the port sector would be identified. The sample that was selected for the study consists of the corporate web sites of all top companies that were part of the selective index of the 2017 TURKLIM report. Content analysis methodology was applied to identify which particular themes are representative across the ports of Turkey. The authors intend to determine what themes regarding CSR are presented on the corporate web sites of ports and also how and where this information is presented.
