Application of Process Improvement Methods in R&D Department

Abstract

Problems experienced in the Electronic R&D Department; It is foreseen that it will cause problems such as not being able to provide timely delivery to the customer, delivering faulty products to the customer, producing high-cost products, increasing unit production times, and customer losses. Solving problems is important for the company to maintain its R&D department. Problems in the entire process of the department should be thoroughly examined. Problems will be evaluated under 5 phases. These phases are shaped on the basis of process, method, human, environment and management. Problems can be solved using DMAIC(define,measure,analysis,improvement,control) methodology. In this methodology, it is aimed to make improvements on defining, measuring, analyzing, developing and controlling the problem. In the DMAIC methodology, different methods are applied for each phase. As a result of the studies carried out; 6 Sigma methods, which will be the most optimal to be applied to the R&D Department, will be determined at the stage of identifying, analyzing, measuring, improving and controlling the problems. Different 6 Sigma methods will be selected for each phase of DMAIC. For the identification phase; Sipoc analysis, for the measurement phase; flow charts for the analysis phase; root cause analysis for the recovery phase; brainstorming for the control phase; control tables are used. After the improvements made, comparisons will be made using control charts and the improvements will be tested.
