Parking Analysis For Hospitals: Atatürk University Research Hospital Example

Abstract

This study evaluates the parking capacity of Atatürk University Research Hospital and analyzes whether the current infrastructure meets user demands. Off-street parking areas were examined by calculating occupancy rates, vehicle stay durations, and usage dynamics. The findings reveal that the hospital's total parking capacity is insufficient to meet the current demand. Inpatient visitor parking lots exhibit high occupancy rates, while emergency parking lots are more suitable for short-term parking needs. However, additional measures are required to address long-term parking demands in these areas. The study proposes increasing parking capacity, constructing multi-level parking facilities, and implementing digital guidance and smart parking systems. These solutions aim to optimize parking management and reduce traffic congestion around the hospital. This research highlights that efficient management of hospital parking can enhance access to healthcare services and improve user experiences. Strategic recommendations for resolving parking issues are expected to contribute significantly to both hospital operations and urban traffic management. By addressing these challenges, the study provides actionable insights for improving the overall efficiency of parking infrastructure in healthcare settings.
