Abstract
This research was carried
out in order to determine feding – managing practises, feed kinds and their
qualities at the beef cattle breeding farms in Diyarbakır province. In the
study, total 60 beef cattle farms were
visited in Bağlar, Sur and Yenişehir towns of Diyarbakır. A survey was applied
in each farm by face to face interview with the farms ownerships and feed
samples were collected in order to get nutrition analysis in the animal
nutrition laboratory. According to survey results; bought concentrated feed and
roughage leves were determined as 91 % and 88 % respectively in the farms. Used
roughage sources were determined as wheat straw, corn silage, and dryed hay as
follows: 90 %, 6 % and 4 % respectively. Additionally, most of the farms were
used some mixtures of beef cattle concentrate feed and grounded barley as 88 %.
At the end of the study, roughage sources that used at the farms in Diyarbakır
province were found poor quality and feeding practises were found insufficient
to meeting of the nutrient requirements of the beef cattles.
