Gebelikte Eş Şiddetinin Gebelik ve Perinatal Sonuçlara Etkisi: Sistematik Derleme

Year 2024, Volume: 6 Issue: 1, 144 - 158, 25.04.2024

Abstract

The Effect of Intimate Partner Violence on Pregnancy and Perinatal Outcomes: Systematic Review

Year 2024, Volume: 6 Issue: 1, 144 - 158, 25.04.2024

Abstract

This systematic review was conducted to determine the effect of intimate partner violence on pregnancy and perinatal outcomes. A literature review was conducted using Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct and Cochrane databases. The keywords of "intimate partner violence", "pregnancy", and "perinatal outcomes" were used in the literature search. After removing duplicate articles and considering the inclusion criteria, fifteen articles between 2015-2020 were analyzed. Intimate partner violence during pregnancy was associated with low weight gain, premature rupture of membranes, abortion imminens, abortion, pregnancy complications, inadequate use of prenatal care, anemia, antepartum bleeding, low iron and folic acid use, prenatal depression, preterm birth, low birth weight, prematurity, stillbirth, and adverse birth outcomes. Intimate partner violence during pregnancy appears to have negative consequences on both maternal and infant health. In order to prevent these negative consequences, it is recommended that women be evaluated by health professionals in terms of violence during antenatal follow-ups.
