Dawn King’in Foxfinder ve Beth Steel’in Ditch Oyunlarında Ekodistopik İzlekler

Abstract

Son birkaç on yılda dünya, küresel ısınma, buzulların erimesi, ormansızlaşma ve su kaynaklarının azalması gibi bir dizi küresel soruna tanıklık etmiştir. Gezegeni ve ekosistemleri yok olma tehdidiyle karşı karşıya bırakan çevresel felaketler karşısında yazarlar, yakın geleceğe ilişkin kaygılarla şekillenen eserler kaleme alırken karanlık öngörüleri en iyi yansıtan distopya yazınına yönlenirler. Distopya yazını ve çevreci edebiyatın kesişim noktasında, önleyici adımlar atılmadığı takdirde mevcut durumun ne tür felaketlere evrileceğine işaret eden ekodistopya bir alt tür olarak ortaya çıkar. Her ne kadar ilk örnekleri roman türünde verilse de zamanla tiyatro da çevresel felaket öngörülerine yer vererek ekodistopyalara kapı aralar. Bu çalışma, çağdaş İngiliz tiyatro eserinde ekodistopyanın yansımalarının izini sürmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, ilk bölümünde ekodistopya türünün teorik bir çerçevesi sunulmakta ve türün anlatı ve tematik özellikleri ışığında ekoloji, distopya ve tiyatro ilişkisi tartışılmaktadır. İkinci bölümde ise çevresel çöküşün hâkim olduğu bir gelecek öngörüsü barındıran, hükümetin tilki paranoyası yaydığı bir İngiltere’de geçen Dawn King’in Foxfinder (2011) ve yine çevresel bir felaket sonrasında izbe bir karakolda yaşamlarını sürdürmeye çalışan altı karakterin öyküsünü anlatan Beth Steel’in Ditch (2010) oyunlarında ekodistopik izlekler irdelenmektedir.
