Digital Parenting Between Risks and Possibilities: A Bibliometric Analysis

Öz

The use of digital technologies has transformed the concept of parenting as well as transforming many phenomena and concepts in social life. In recent years, researchers' research on the protection of children from harmful content on the Internet and the awareness of parents has gained momentum. In this process, a new concept called "digital parenting" has emerged in the literature for parents to protect their children, take advantage of opportunities and improve themselves. This study aims to present a bibliometric view of research on digital parenting. In the study, 61 studies related to the concept of "digital parenting" in the WEB of Science database were accessed and bibliometric data related to these studies were mapped in the VOSviewer analysis program. As a result of the study, it was determined that the studies on digital parenting in the WEB of Science database started in 2015, and the most studies (n=14) were done in the field of Education-Educator Research. The highest number of studies (n=15) were published by researchers in the United States, followed by Turkey (n=14). On the other hand, from the point of view of institutions, the most publications on this subject (n=4) were published by researchers from Ege University. As a result of the common keyword analysis, it was determined that the studies focused at least on "digital literacy", "digital security", "digital parenting styles" and "protection methods".

Riskler ve Olanaklar Arasında Dijital Ebeveynlik: Bibliyometrik Bir Analiz

Öz

Dijital teknolojilerin kullanımı, sosyal hayatta birçok kavramı dönüştürdüğü gibi ebeveynlik kavramını da dönüştürmüştür. Araştırmacıların son yıllarda, özellikle çocukların internette zararlı içeriklerden korunması ve ebeveynlerin farkındalığına yönelik yaptığı araştırmalar hız kazanmıştır. Bu süreç içerisinde, literatürde “dijital ebeveynlik” olarak adlandırılan ve ebeveynlerin çocuklarını koruması, fırsatlardan yararlanması ve kendisini de geliştirmesi için yeni bir kavram ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu çalışma, dijital ebeveynlik konusunda yapılan araştırmaların bibliyometrik bir görüntüsünü sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada WEB of Science veri tabanında yer alan “dijital ebeveynlik” kavramıyla ilgili 61 çalışmaya ulaşılmış ve bu çalışmalara ilişkin bibliyometrik verilerin VOSviewer analiz programında ağ haritaları çıkarılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda WEB of Science veri tabanında yer alan dijital ebeveynlik konulu çalışmaların 2015 yılında başladığı, en fazla çalışmanın (n=14) ise Eğitim-Eğitimci Araştırmaları alanında yapıldığı belirlenmiştir. En fazla çalışma (n=15), Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde yer alan araştırmacılar tarafından yayımlanırken, bunu Türkiye’deki araştırmacılar (n=14) takip etmektedir. Diğer taraftan kurumlar açısından bakıldığında bu konuda en fazla yayın (n=4) Ege Üniversitesi’nde yer alan araştırmacılar tarafından yayımlanmıştır. Ortak anahtar kelime analizi sonucunda ise araştırmaların en az “dijital okuryazarlık”, “dijital güvenlik”, “dijital ebeveynlik tarzları” ve “koruma yöntemleri” konularına odaklandığı belirlenmiştir.
