Abstract
Hürriyet Partisi, 20 Kasım 1955 tarihinde, Demokrat Parti’den istifa
eden bir muhalif milletvekili tarafından 20 Aralık 1955 tarihinde kurulmuştur. Basına ispat hakkı verilmesini savunan, çoğunluğu gazeteci ve gazete sahiplerinden oluşan Demokrat Parti’nin Millet Meclisi çatısı altında
bulunan 19 milletvekili Basın Yasası’nda basına ispat hakkının verilmesini
savunuyorlardı. İstekleri Demokrat Parti Grubu tarafından reddedildi. Sonuç olarak da 19 üyeden 10’u partiden istifa etti, 9’u da partiden çıkarıldı.
Hürriyet Partisi, 24 Kasım 1958 tarihinde Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi’ne katıldı. Bu makalede Hürriyet Partisi’nin kuruluşu, gelişimi ve Türk siyasî tarihindeki önemi açıklanmıştır.

Abstract
The Freedom Party was established by rebel of Democratic Party members who have resigned from party in 20 December 1955. After many
newspapers have been suspended and newsmen jailed by government action, 19 Democratic Party members of the National Assembly demand that
proof of the accuracy of a published statement be made relevant to defense in prosecutions under the Pres Law. Rejected by the Group of the Democratic Party. Subsequently 10 of the 19 members resign from the party
and the other 9 are expelled. The Freedom Party dissolves itself to merge
with the Republican People’s Party in 24 November 1958. This article is
explained Freedom Party was establish and growing and important in Turkish political history.
