She graduated from the Department of Architecture at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Architecture in 1982. She earned her master’s degree in Urban Design from the Mimar Sinan University (MSU) Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences in 1984, followed by a doctorate in Urban Planning from the same institution in 1993. Since 1985, she has served as a faculty member in the Department of City and Regional Planning at the same university, where she teaches courses and supervises graduate theses in her areas of expertise: urban design, urban fabric, and public space. Concurrently, she served as a member and chair of the Istanbul No. 3 Regional Board for the Preservation of Cultural Property (2003–2008), directed the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ) Research and Application Center for Anatolian Culture and Art (2009–2015), and held a position on the executive board of the Chamber of Architects of Turkey (TMMOB) Istanbul Metropolitan Branch. She currently serves on the editorial board of the journal *Mimar.ist*, acts as the series editor for the "City and Space" book collection at Yeni İnsan Publishing, and remains active in civil society initiatives through the Ayvalık Urban Studies Association. As part of a design team, she received first prize in the idea competitions for Cumalıkızık Village (2007) and Kartal Square (1993), as well as an achievement award in the first stage of the International Beyazıt Square Urban Design Competition (1988).
