Late Capsular Block Syndrome Mimicking Intraocular Lens Opacification: A Case Report

Abstract

Capsular block syndrome CBS is a rare complication of cataract surgery. CBS is a syndrome which has been characterized by accumulation of viscoelastic substance, liquid or liquefied material in the capsular bag following closure of anterior capsule edge with nucleus or intraocular lens IOL . There are 3 clinical form of CBS; intraoperative, early postoperative and late postoperative. In late CBS, milky material can accumulate behind the IOL and can lead to difficulties in diagnosis. In this case report, we reported a patient with late CBS mimicking IOL opacification which is diagnosed 8 years after uneventful phacoemulcification and three piece IOL implantation.

Göz İçi Lens Opasifikasyonunu Taklit Eden Geç Kapsüler Blok Sendromu: Olgu Sunumu

Abstract

Kapsüler blok sendromu KBS katarakt ameliyatının nadir görülen bir komplikasyonudur. Nükleus veya göz içi lensi GİL ile ön kapsül açıklığının kapanması sonucu kapsüler kese içerisinde viskoelastik madde, sıvı veya likefiye olmuş madde birikimiyle karakterize bir sendromdur. İntraoperatif, erken postoperatif ve geç postoperatif olmak üzere 3 tip klinik formu vardır. Geç KBS’de GİL arkasında sütsü bir materyal birikebilmekte ve tanıda güçlüklere neden olabilmektedir. Bu olgu sunumunda, komplikasyonsuz fakoemülsifikasyon ve üç parçalı GİL implantasyonu yapılan bir hastada 8 yıl sonra gelişmiş olan GİL opasifikasyonunu taklit eden bir geç KBS olgusu rapor edilmiştir.
