Bir İlçede Yaşayan Yaşlıların Yaşlılık Algılarının Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Çalışma Eldivan ilçesinde yaşayan 65 yaş ve üzeri bireylerin yaşlılık algılarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır.

Gereç ve Yöntemler: Veriler 1 Haziran 2020-30 Ağustos 2020 tarihleri arasında, Çankırı’nın Eldivan ilçesinde yaşayan 292 yaşlı ile yüz yüze toplanmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Tanıtıcı Bilgi formu ve Yaşlılığı Algılama Anketi Kısa Formu kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel analizde Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi(ANOVA) ve Bağımsız gruplarda T testi kullanılmıştır.

Bulgular: Yaşlıların yaş ortalaması 71,85±6,595, %57,2’si erkek, %39,4’ü İlkokul mezunu, %71, 6’sının kronik hastalığı var idi. Çalışmada yaş grupları, eğitim durumları, kiminle yaşadıkları, kronik hastalık varlığı ile yaşlılık algı puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark görülmüştür (p<0.05). Yaşlılık algısı puanı 53,95± 6,3 (32-76) olarak bulunmuştur.

Sonuç: Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda mevcut çalışmadaki yaşlıların yaşlılık algılarının olumsuz/negatif olduğu görülmüştür. Yaşlanma algısı, yaşlı yetişkinlerin sağlığı ve refahı için önemli bir husustur. Bu kavramın yaşam kalitesi ve yaşam doyumu gibi diğer sağlık bileşenleri için önemi düşünüldüğünde, yaşlıların yaşlanma algısını iyileştirmek için uygun maliyetli ve basit yöntemler kullanılabilir. Dolayısı ile sağlık hizmetlerinde yaşlıların yaşlılık algılarını olumlu/pozitif hale getirmek için fiziksel sağlıklarını desteklemek, tele sağlık hizmetleri gibi müdahalelerde bulunmak yararlı olabilir.

Evaluation of Perceptions of Aging of the Elderly Living in a District

Abstract

Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate the aging perceptions of individuals aged 65 and over living in Eldivan district.

Materials and Methods: The data were collected face to face with 292 elderly living in Eldivan district of Çankırı between June 1, 2020 and August 30, 2020. The Descriptive Information Form and the Aging Perception Questionnaire Short Form were used as data collection tools. One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and T test in independent groups were used in statistical analysis.

Results: The average age of the elderly was 71.85 ± 6.595, 57.2% were men, 39.4% were primary school graduates, 71.6% had chronic diseases. In the study, a statistically significant difference was observed between age groups, educational status, with whom they lived, presence of chronic disease and perception of old age (p<0.05). Age perception score was found to be 53.95 ± 6.3 (32-76).

Conclusion: In line with these results, it was seen that the elderly's perceptions of aging in the present study were negative / negative. Perception of aging is an important consideration for the health and well-being of older adults. Considering the importance of this concept for other health components such as quality of life and life satisfaction, cost-effective and simple methods can be used to improve the aging perception of the elderly. Therefore, interventions such as supporting their physical health and telehealth services may be beneficial in order to make the elderly's perceptions of old age positive / positive in health services.
