Overview of Intelligent Personal Assistants
Abstract
With the technological improvements, smart personal assistants come into prominence in daily lives. In the future, with the improvements of artificial intelligence techniques, it is foreseen that the individual life management will be assisted by smart personal assistants. Today, it is still not likely to say that smart personal assistants have reached their potential. For more efficient use, more technical developments are needed, especially in the natural language processing. In order to that, subjects which need to be improved must be determined based on which challenges are faced. In order to develop more efficient solutions for the problems, fundamental evaluation is necessary for starters. In this work, features of the smart personal assistants are examined and existing applications are referred. For better understanding of what features a smart personal assistant must contain, a literature review is done. In-use features which have to be improved in the future are pointed out. Challenges to overcome and subjects to work for more efficient and widespread use are determined. It is found that anthropomorphism is one of the most important feature that artificial intelligence products must have.
