Abstract
Communication, which takes place in all areas of life, has a great place in education. In particular, the strength of communication between teachers and students is effective in the efficient realization of education and training. Teachers' good communication skills strengthen their relationship with students; it facilitates the transfer of information, culture and social values to them. In this study, teachers' communication skills; It has been tried to determine the relationship with their gender, branch, seniority, the type of school they graduated from, their graduation status and the class level of the students. 120 8th grade students participated in the research. While determining the sample group, easily accessible case sampling, which is a purposive sampling approach, was used. “Teacher Communication Skills Scale” as a data collection tool in the research; In the qualitative part, interview forms were used. As a result of the analysis, it was found that gender, branch, the type of school they graduated from, their graduation status and the grade level of their students did not have an effect on the communication skills of the teachers; It has been determined that the communication skills of the teachers with less seniority are better than the teachers with more seniority. When the qualitative findings obtained to support the quantitative findings are examined, under the main theme of "effective communication"; Three sub-themes have been reached, namely "seeing value", "understanding" and "accompanying development".
