ASSESMENT OF PERIODONTAL CONDITION AND SYSTEMIC DISEASES IN PATIENTS WITH PERIODONTAL DISEASES VISITING FACULTY OF DENTISTRY

Abstract

Aim: The
aim of this study is to determine the periodontal conditions and systemic
diseases of the patients who have applied to Adıyaman University Faculty of
Dentistry Department of Periodontology Clinic.

Materials and methods: 1200
individuals (600 female and 600 male) between the ages of 16-70 were included
in this study. Clinical periodontal status, age, gender, smoking habits,
socio-economic level, educational level, and systemic diseases were obtained.

Results: According
to periodontal conditions 1,1% of the patients were periodontally healthy,
19,6% had gingivitis, 79,3% had periodontitis. 39,2% of the patient had
systemic diseases. 38,5% of the periodontally healthy patients, 46,0% of the
patients with the diagnosis of gingivitis, 63,0% of the patients with periodontitis
had accompanying systemic diseases.

Conclusion: This
study showed that, the prevelance of periodontal and systemic diseases among
the studied population was high. Detailed anamnesis should be taken and medical
consultation should be requested if needed, accurate and definitive treatment
should be planned according to the systemic conditions.

Dişhekimliği Fakültesine Başvuran Hastalarda Periodontal Durum ve Sistemik Hastalıkların Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, Adıyaman Üniversitesi
Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Periodontoloji Kliniği'ne başvuran hastaların
periodontal durumlarını ve sistemik hastalıklarla ilişkisini belirlemektir.

Gereç ve
yöntem: Bu çalışmaya 16-70 yaş
arası 1200 birey (600 kadın ve 600 erkek) dahil edildi. Klinik periodontal
durum, yaş, cinsiyet, sigara içme alışkanlıkları, sosyo-ekonomik düzey, eğitim
düzeyi ve sistemik hastalıklara dair veriler elde edildi.

Bulgular: Periodontal durumları incelendiğinde;
hastaların %1,1'i sağlıklı, %19,6'sında gingivitis, %79,3'ünde periodontitis
tespit edildi. Hastaların %39,2'sinde sistemik hastalık gözlendi. Periodontal
olarak sağlıklı hastaların% 38,5'inde, gingivitis tanılı hastaların %46,0'ında,
periodontitisli hastaların %63,0'ında eşlik eden bir sistemik hastalık izlendi.

Sonuç: Bu çalışma, incelenen popülasyonda
periodontal ve sistemik hastalıkların prevelansının yüksek olduğunu
göstermiştir. Ayrıntılı anamnez alınmalı ve gerekirse tıbbi konsültasyon
istenmeli, kesin ve kesin tedavi sistemik şartlara göre planlanmalıdır.
