Diagnosis of Maxillofacial and Dentoalveolar Fracture Using Cone Beam Computed Tomography: A Case Report

Abstract

Dental trauma can lead to injuries in teeth and their supporting structures, occurs most commonly in young patients, and varies in severity from enamel fractures to tooth avulsions. Fractures of the maxillofacial region present difficulties for the dentist, especially when the fractures are localized to dental and paradental structures. Imaging examination is an essential component of the management of traumatic events. It supports all aspects from diagnosis and treatment planning to asses outcome. The purpose of this case report is to present the clinical use of cone beam computed tomography for the diagnosis of maxillofacial fractures in a traumatized 16 year old female patient

Abstract

Dental travma dişlerde ve dişleri destekleyen yapılarda kırıklara yol açabilir. Sıklıkla genç hastalarda oluşur ve dental dokularda ciddiyeti mine kırıklarından avulsiyonlara kadar çeşitlenmektedir. Maksillofasiyal bölge kırıkları, diş ve çevre yapılardaki lokalizasyonuna bağlı olarak diş hekimleri için zorluklara neden olabilmektedir. Radyografik inceleme, teşhis ve tedavi planlamasının tüm yönlerini destekleyerek travmaların teşhisinde önemli bir rol oynar. Bu vaka raporunun amacı travmaya uğrayan 16 yaşındaki kadın hastada maksillofasiyal kırıkların teşhisinde konik ışınlı bilgisayarlı tomografinin klinik kullanımının avantaj ve yararlılığını bildirmektir
