Ectodermal Dysplasia ED is a hereditydisorder that can affect several ectodermalstructures and result in a number of oralproblems. The orofacial characteristics ofED include anadontia or hypodontia,hypoplastic conical teeth, underdevelopment of the alveolar ridges, a depressednasal bridge, protuberant lips, andhypotrichosis. Because of the visualappearance, these patients should receivedental treatment at early ages for physiological and psyco-social reasons. Patientswith ED syndrome often need complexprosthodontic treatment also. The optionsof a definitive treatment may include fixed,removable or implant-supported prostheses, each alone or in combination witheach other. This article describes the EDsyndrome, and timing and planning of thetreatment of ED syndrome patients
