DİŞ HEKİMLİĞİNDE SEDASYON

Year 2021, Volume: 10 Issue: 3, 150 - 158, 20.09.2021

Abstract

Abstract

Local anesthesia, sedation and general anesthesia have an important place in dentistry practices. Although dental procedures generally performes with local anesthesia but underwent sedation or general anesthesia is getting increase. This situation derived from the development of medicine, dentistry and technology enables more complex procedures to be performed, as well as the effort to increase patient comfort, primarily the control of fear and anxiety. This requires sedation practitioners to have adequate training.
Although sedation is the subject of an increasing number of studies and applications all over the world, it is also exposed to serious criticism in terms of possible complications. This requires sedation practitioners to have adequate training and equipment.
In this article, it is aimed to present current literature about sedation for dental treatments, from the perspective of anesthesiology and reanimation specialists in the light of experiences.
