Yüzme Antrenörlerinin Mesleki Açıdan Karşılaştıkları Zorlukların Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2025, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 36 - 53, 30.07.2025

Abstract

Evaluation of the Professional Challenges Faced by Swimming Coaches

Year 2025, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 36 - 53, 30.07.2025

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to evaluate the difficulties that swimming coaches face in their profession. In line with this purpose, the universe of the study consists of swimming coaches operating in Çanakkale province, while the sample group consists of 15 swimming coaches actively working in Çanakkale province. In order to examine the professional difficulties of swimming coaches in the research, a semi-structured interview form consisting of 10 questions was used. In this context, one-on-one interviews lasting approximately 20 minutes were conducted with a total of 15 swimming coaches. The content analysis method was used in the analysis of the obtained qualitative data. As a result of the analyses conducted, it was determined that the most common problem encountered in the communication between coaches and athletes was the lack of focus and attention of athletes. In addition, it was observed that the overly controlling and impatient attitudes of parents negatively affected the working environments of coaches. In addition, it was determined that coaches did not encounter any discrimination based on gender. Finally, it was concluded that factors such as inadequacy of personal rights of coaches and lack of financial support reduced the professional motivation of coaches.
