The Attİtudes of Preschool Teacher Candidates’ Parents and The Attitudes The Preschool Teacher Candidates Want to Exhibıt to Their Own Chıldren
Abstract
Parental attitude and the interaction between the children and the parents shape the behaviours of the children and affect their behaviours in the future. Another important factor that influences the behaviour of the children after the parents is the preschool teachers who children meet in the first years of their life. In other words, different attitudes of the parents and the teachers have an important role in what kind of an individual the children will be in the future. The purpose of the research is to investigate the attitudes of preschool teacher candidates’ parents and the attitudes that the teacher candidates want to exhibit to their own children in terms of different variables. Thus, what kind of attitudes the teacher candidates, who are the teachers of the future, must develop will be determined. The sample of the research was included in the informing of the Parental Attitude and it consists of 154 teacher candidates who attend Uludag University Faculty of Education Preschool Department. 9 of the teachers candidates participated in the research were male and 145 of them were female. Within the context of the research, in order to determine the attitudes of the preschool teacher candidates’ parents and the attitudes the preschool teacher candidates want to exhibit to their own children, a view form, which consisted of open ended questions, was applied to the teacher candidates. In addition, the data obtained from the research were digitised and expressed as percentage and frequency. As a result of the analysis carried out, it is seen that teacher candidates categorised parental attitudes under the titles such as democratic, inconsistent, authoritarian, over protective, perfectionist, tolerant and reassuring, democratic-over protective, democratic-authoritarian, oppressive-authoritarian and indecisive, democratic-protective-authoritarian, authoritarian-over protective, democratic-perfectionist. The teacher candidates, who attend preschool education department, stated the attitudes they want to exhibit to their own children as democratic, democratictolerant, democratic-protective, reassuring-democratic, tolerant-reassuring, democratic- protective and democratic-authoritarian.
