Removal of a foreign body from the esophagus in adults is not an infrequent occurrence. We report the case of a 50-year-old female with a chicken bone lodged in the esophagus, with the complaints of sore throat and difficulty in swallowing. We review the related literature regarding foreign bodies removed from the cervical esophagus. Foreign body in the proximal esophagus can be tightly lodged, and can be overlooked. The foreign body can be removed with gastroscopic forceps.
