The Impact of Organizational Commitment on Job Satisfaction and Work Performance: A Case of a Military Hospital Handed over to The Ministry of Healthcare
Abstract
This study aimed at identifying organizational commitment and its impact on job satisfaction and performance of employees and newly appointed managers because of the handover of a Military Hospital (MHs) to the Ministry of Healthcare Hospitals (MHHs), and the challenges faced during the change pro-cess.The study was designed using a mixed-method approach. The data were col-lected through three scale and semi-structured interviews. The study showed that job satisfaction is positively correlated with organizational commitment, but negatively correlated with performance. Both the organizational commitment and work performance average scores of employees who had been working in the military hospital were higher than those of employees having worked in the MHHs. It was found that during the process of change, there were hardships stemming from employees and system differences. It was determined that organi-zational commitment has an impact on organizational change and the attitudes of managers were critical to effectively manage the process of change.
