Bir Kamu Hastanesinde Çalışan Hemşirelerin COVID-19 Pandemisinde Travmatik Stres Düzeylerinin Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, COVID-19 pandemisi sırasında pandemi hastanesinde çalışan hemşirelerin travmatik stres düzeyleri ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir. Kesitsel tasarımda planlanan çalışmanın evrenini Haziran- Eylül 2020 tarihleri arasında İstanbul’da kamuya ait bir eğitim ve araştırma hastanesinde görev yapan ve araştırmayı kabul eden 110 hemşire oluşturdu. Araştırma verileri, araştırmacılar tarafından literatür doğrultusunda geliştirilen 19 soruluk demografik verileri içeren anket formu ve “Olayların Etkisi Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplandı. Hemşirelerin olayların etkisi ölçeğinden aldıkları toplam puan ortalaması 38.66±19.72 olup, en yüksek puan ortalaması (14.84±6.42) kaçınma yaklaşımı alt boyutunda, en düşük puan ortalaması (9.89±6.61) uyarılma yaklaşımı alt boyutunda olduğu saptandı. Çalışmaya katılan hemşirelerin kronik hastalık ve eğitim durumu değişkenine göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılık olduğu belirlendi. Hemşirelerin yaş, cinsiyet, medeni durum, çocuk sayısı değişkenlere göre anlamlı farklılık bulunmamıştır. Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin olayların etkisi ölçeğinden elde edilen toplam puan ortalamasına göre COVID-19 pandemisi hakkında düşük düzeyde stresli oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte; pandemi sürecinde COVID-19 hastalığının sağlık çalışanları üzerinde derinlemesine ele alındığı, daha geniş örneklemli ve daha fazla demografik ve klinik verinin dâhil edildiği yeni çalışmalara ihtiyaç olduğu söylenebilir.

Determination of Traumatic Stress Levels of Nurses Working in a Public Hospital in the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the traumatic stress levels and affecting factors of nurses working in the pandemic hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic.The universe of the study, which was planned in cross-sectional design, consisted of 110 nurses who worked in a public education and research hospital in Istanbul between June and September 2020 and accepted the research. The research data were collected by using a questionnaire consisting of 19 questions developed by the researchers in line with the literature, and the "Effect of Events Scale". The mean score of the nurses from the effect of events scale was 38.66±19.72, the highest mean score (14.84±6.42) in the avoidance approach sub-dimension, and the lowest mean score (9.89±6.61) in the arousal approach sub-dimension. It was determined that there was a significant difference according to the variable of chronic disease and educational status of the nurses participating in the study. No significant difference was found according to the variables of age, gender, marital status, number of children of the nurses. According to the total score average obtained from the effect scale of the events of the nurses participating in the research, it was determined that the nurses were stressed at a low level about the COVİD-19 pandemic. With this; It can be said that there is a need for new studies with a larger sample and more demographic and clinical data in which the COVİD-19 disease is discussed in depth on healthcare workers during the pandemic process.
