Conclusions from Technology Planning for Faculties in State Universities

Abstract

In order to integrate technology into the school curriculum, factors such as the needs of students, the availability of resources, identifying instructional needs for technology and technology design, and providing guidance and technical support to teachers in the use of technology should be taken into consideration. It is possible to define technology planning as an activity that guides and helps the people working within an institution or organization about where they are now and where they want to be. This study was designed to examine how faculty members think they should be involved in these planning activities related to different technologies. Specifically, this exploratory study was designed to determine how faculty members think they should be involved and to develop consensus on this issue. In this study, both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques were used. Interviews were conducted with the dean, vice dean, and five technical staff. Technology planning starts with defining the vision and mission and setting the goals in the proposed model. In the study, the STPQ questionnaire was applied in order to make inferences to reveal the situation in terms of technology integration. The survey results, which were suitable for data collection, indicate that technology integration efforts at the faculty are not systematic and are not linked to the school's broader reform efforts such as Project Based Learning, Total Quality Management, etc." According to information from faculty and staff, the School still needs a technology plan. Technology-related work is mostly fragmented and independent. The process continues with the analysis of the individuals, environment, and needs in the institution, and the needs are determined by evaluating the current situation. Thanks to this plan, the organization’s employees can use time effectively, make technology expenditures correctly and minimize the problems that may arise with technology.

Devlet Üniversitelerindeki Fakülteler için Teknoloji Planlamasından Çıkarılan Sonuçlar

Abstract

Günümüzde teknolojinin oldukça yaygınlaşması, eğitim ve öğretimde teknoloji kullanımını zorunlu hale getirmiştir. Öğretmenler, sınıf içi öğrenci başarısını artırmak için her türlü teknolojiden faydalanmak zorundadır. Teknolojinin okul müfredatına entegre edilebilmesi için öğrencilerin ihtiyaçları, kaynakların mevcudiyeti, teknoloji ve teknoloji tasarımına yönelik öğretimsel ihtiyaçların belirlenmesi, öğretmenlere teknoloji kullanımında rehberlik ve teknik destek sağlanması gibi faktörler göz önünde bulundurulmalıdır. Dolayısıyla doğru yapılan ve uygulanan bir teknoloji planlaması, teknolojiyi eğitim kurumlarına entegre etmenin en sağlıklı yoludur. Teknoloji planlamasını, bir kurum ya da kuruluş bünyesinde çalışan kişilere şu anda nerede oldukları ve nerede olmak istedikleri konusunda yol gösteren ve yardımcı olan bir faaliyet olarak tanımlamak mümkündür. Anderson'un Öğretim Teknolojileri Plan Kılavuzu temel alınarak Eğitim Fakültesi için hazırlanan ve uygulanan teknoloji planı güncellenerek bu çerçevede bir model oluşturuldu. Teknoloji planlaması, vizyon ve misyonun tanımlanması ve önerilen modelde hedeflerin belirlenmesi ile başlar. Çalışmada teknoloji entegrasyonu açısından durumu ortaya koyacak çıkarımlarda bulunmak amacıyla Okul Teknoloji Profili Anketi (STPQ) anketi uygulanmıştır. Süreç, kurumdaki bireylerin, çevrenin ve ihtiyaçların analizi ile devam eder ve mevcut durum değerlendirilerek ihtiyaçlar belirlenir. Belirlenen ihtiyaçlar neticesinde kurumun hedefe ulaşması için bir eylem planı oluşturulur. Bu noktadan hareketle kurumların mevcut teknolojik durumu değerlendirmeleri, gelecekte ulaşılması gereken noktayı belirlemeleri ve hedeflenen olanaklara ulaşmak için yapılması gereken eylemleri planlamaları sağlanır. Bu plan sayesinde kurum çalışanları zamanı etkin kullanabilir, teknoloji harcamalarını doğru yapabilir ve teknoloji ile ilgili ortaya çıkabilecek sorunları en aza indirebilir. Bu çalışma, öğretim üyelerinin farklı teknolojilerle ilgili bu planlama faaliyetlerine nasıl dahil olmaları gerektiğini düşündüklerini incelemek üzere tasarlanmıştır. Özellikle, bu keşifsel çalışma, öğretim üyelerinin nasıl dahil olmaları gerektiğini düşündüklerini belirlemek ve bu konuda fikir birliği geliştirmek için tasarlanmıştır.
