The Relationship Between Quality Education and Youth Unemployment: A Review Within the PISA Test Results

Abstract

Unemployment is considered as the socio-economic phenomenon that does not lose its important in terms of both developed and developing countries. In addition to this frame, youth unemployment which has reached significant level in many countries. Reasons of unemployment and youth unemployment in the literature are attributed with many different vairables. Education systems and the quality of education services produced within the education system, are increasing importance and stand out. Measurement and comparison between countries in the quality of education, while not easy, PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) held at the international level by the OECD emerges as an important indicator in this respect. Assessing the impact on youth unemployment of the quality of education constitutes the the subject of the study. In this context, made a benchmark with the PISA test results European Union (EU) Member countries of the youth unemployment rate of these countries. Consequently, the youth unemployment has been tried to reveal whether is lower or not in the countries with a high quality of education.
