BÖTE Bölümü Öğrencilerinin İnternet Kullanım Özellikleri ve Tercihlerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi Bölümü BÖTE öğrencilerinin internet kullanım özellikleri ve tercihleri incelenmiştir. Araştırma, Türkiye’de, İstanbul’da yer alan 3 farklı üniversitenin Marmara Üniversitesi, Maltepe Üniversitesi, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi BÖTE bölümü öğrencileri ile yürütülmüştür. Verilerin toplanmasında, “BÖTE’nin İnternet Kullanım Özellikleri Anketi BİKÖ ” kullanılmıştır. İnternet Kullanım özelliklerine dair araştırma bulguları incelendiğinde, BÖTE öğrencilerinin %91.4’ünün bilgisayara sahip olduğu halde, %31.5’inin internet bağlantısının olmadığı ve %89.5’inin web sitesi ya da blog oluşturmayla ilgilenmediği görülmüştür. Diğer taraftan, en çok günde 1-4 saat internetin kullanıldığı ortaya çıkmış olup, internetin ne amaçla kullanıldığı sorgulanmıştır. Öğrencilerin neredeyse ortalamaya yakını %44.4’ü , yeni insanlarla tanışma amacıyla internete günlük olarak vakit ayırmakta olduğu dikkat çekmektir. Diğer dikkate değer sonuç ise, öğrencilerin %97.6 her gün 0-5 saat arası yeni bilgiler edinmek için interneti kullandığıdır. Son olarak, BÖTE öğrencilerinin az oranlarda da olsa, kumar/bahis oynama, cinsel içerikli siteleri araştırma vs. amaçlarıyla da günlük olarak internete zaman ayırması, internetin kötü kullanımına işaret etmektedir. Araştırmada, özellikle teknolojiyle ilgili bölümlerde bir an önce gerekli önlemlerin alınması vurgulanmaktadır. Bu noktadan hareketle, araştırma sonunda birtakım önerilere yer verilmiştir.

A Study on Characteristics of Internet Use of CEIT Students and Their Preferences

Abstract

In this research, characteristics of internet use of CEIT Computer Education and Instructional Technologies students and their preferences were studied. The research was conducted with students from three universities Marmara University, Maltepe University and Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul in Turkey. A Questionnaire of Characteristics of Internet Use of CEIT Students was used. The research found out that although 91.4 % of CEIT students have a computer, 31.5% of them do not have an access to internet and 89.5 % are not interested in making a web site or a blog. On the other hand, it was apparent that internet was used 1-4 hours a day at most and the reasons of internet use were investigated. It was notable that almost half of the students 44.4 % spare time daily for getting acquainted with new people. Another remarkable result was that students 97.6% use internet to obtain new data for 0-5 hours daily. The last finding of the study was pointing out to the fact that students abuse internet for gambling/betting and surfing through sexually explicit sites. The research emphasized that necessary measures must be taken immediately. Some suggestions were given at the end of the study for this purpose.
