Abstract

The Transdiagnostic Model is a relatively new and yet influential evidence-based model in mental health literature based on its explanatory power of diverse mental hardships experienced by the humanity with a reasonably succinct and compact structure. This review article aimed to explain the types of mental errors underlying psychological problems (attention, memory, thinking, behavior, and reasoning errors) as discussed in the model, with a special emphasis on reasoning errors. The model was briefly introduced and compared with the more traditional medical one. The first four mental errors were explained with a specific example for each, and informative scenarios of psychopathological manifestations were included. A more detailed explanation was given concerning the reasoning errors, as the focus of this narrative. The psychopathological manifestations of many reasoning errors were explained with exemplar scenarios. Mental error types in five categories were discussed throughout, with a table summarizing the reasoning errors. Additionally, the way therapies construe interventions based on the model was explained with an ideal table for emotional reasoning error intervention. It was aimed to be an informative, theoretical article that demonstrated how the model worked in practice through vignette cases. Increasing the knowledgebase and interest in this model in Turkish psychology literature is a necessary and viable objective of this article. For more advanced investigations that test the model’s validity in Turkey, It would serve as a helpful foundation.

TANILAR ÖTESİ MODELİN AKIL YÜRÜTME HATALARI VURGUSUYLA PSİKOLOJİK PROBLEMLERE UYGULANMASI
