Postmodern culture, which is the last aspect of consumer society, has become a symbol of the changing social habits with the 20th century. Postmodernism and the fragmentations, puzzles and deficiencies in postmodernism left a gap that must be completed at every point of life and turned everything traditional, especially values upside down. Therefore, daily life and its various representations have also changed. Especially after 1980s, cinema kept pace with this change and independent films came to the fore in both Turkish and world cinema. The environment, which was transformed by privacy, questioned by the individuals who questioned and behaved excessively, reflected the changes in human life from its perspective. In this study, Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Ahlat Ağacı (Film of the Tree of Ahlat) is discussed, and from a postmodern perspective, how life is criticized in the film is emphasized.
