Year 2011, Volume: 6 Issue: 1, 111 - 124, 25.07.2014

Abstract

Abstract

The concept of social capital has been referred in the literature since the late 20th century. Social capital generally refers to interrelations, confidence, hepling one another, networks, civic socities and public service. Social capital is under the review of many diciplines including sociology and criminology. In the criminology literature, the utilization of the power of social capital is viewed an important issue to prevent and fight against crime. The Social Control theory emphasizes the vital importance of the social capital. This study argues that social capital as a dimension of social control might be an alternative approach to crime prevention.
