Dövme ve "Piercing"li Kişilerin Beden Algısı, Benlik Saygısı ve Mizaç Özelliklerinin Değerlendirilmesi: Kontrollü Bir Çalışma

Öz

Amaç: Çalışmada, toplumumuzda “dövme” ve “piercing” uygulamaları yaptıran kişilerin beden algısı, benlik saygısı ve mizaç özellikleri araştırıldı. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Dövme ve “piercing” yapılan merkezlerde bu uygulamaları yaptıran ardışık olarak 25 kişi ve kontrol grubu için bir kuaföre gelen müşterilerden 25 kişi çalışmaya alındı. Çalışma grubuna Vücut Algısı Ölçeği, Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği, TEMPS-A Mizaç Ölçeği, Genel Sağlık Ölçeği uygulandı. İstatistiksel analiz için student t-test ve one-way anova yöntemleri kullanıldı. Bulgular: Dövme ve “piercing” uygulamaları yaptıran kişilerde genel sağlık anketi skoru yaptırmayanlara göre anlamlı olarak daha düşük saptanırken p=0.033 , beden algısı, benlik saygısı ve mizaç özelliklerinde anlamlı bir fark saptanmadı.Sonuç: Çalışmamızda, dövme ve “piercing” uygulamaları yaptıran kişilerde kontrol grubuna göre beden algısı ve mizaç özelliklerinde anlamlı bir fark saptanmamıştır. Ancak bu kişilerde genel sağlık algısı daha düşük saptanmıştır

An Evaluation of the Body Image, Self-Esteem and Temperament Features in Persons with Tattoos and Piercings: A Controlled Study

Abstract

Objective: In this study, we aimed to investigate the body image, self-esteem and temperament features in persons with tattoos and piercings. Material and Methods: Twenty-five consecutive customers of a tattoo and piercing center and 25 consecutive customers of a hairdresser as the control group were enrolled in the study. The Body Cathexis Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, TEMPS-A Autoquestionnaire, and General Health Questionnaire were administered. The Kuder-Richardson 21, Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient, Shapiro-Wilk test, Student's t test, Mann-Whitney U test, chi-square test, and Fisher's exact test were used for statistical analysis. Results: The people who had tattoos and piercings done had significantly lower p = 0.033 scores compared to the other group in the general health questionnaire. Body image, self-esteem and temperament features showed no significant difference between the groups
