Akdeniz Medical Journal is the official scientific publication of the Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. It is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary medical journal published in accordance with universal ethical principles and standards. Akdeniz Medical Journal aims to contribute to the presentation, dissemination, and sharing of research conducted in the fields related to health sciences within national and international scientific communities, and in this context, to also contribute to the publicity of Türkiye. It is indexed in Turkish Medical Index, Index Copernicus, Türk Medline, Academic Index Türkiye and SOBIAD. Members of our editorial board continue their efforts to increase the number of national and international indexes in which our journal is included.
As of 2026, Akdeniz Medical Journal has adopted a CONTINUOUS PUBLICATION MODEL. With the transition to this model and the new operational arrangements, the targeted average time from manuscript submission to final decision and publication is approximately 3–4 months. Original research articles (basic, clinical, and epidemiological) are primarily considered for evaluation in our journal. In addition, Akdeniz Medical Journal also accepts editorials, review articles, case reports, letters to the editor, technical notes, articles on medical education, articles on the history of medicine, and biographies, etc. Submitted manuscripts must be previously unpublished elsewhere in written or electronic form, and not submitted to another journal or electronic platform for publication. All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process by at least two reviewers.
Akdeniz Medical Journal is freely accessible online. No fees are charged for manuscript submission and/or publication, and all published articles are open access. The ISSN number of the journal during its print publication period was 1300-1779, and as of August 8, 2019, the new ISSN number for the electronic publication process is 2687-2781. The journal publishes in Turkish and English.
