Abstract

Environmental degradations such as climate change, global pollution and loss of biodiversity caused by humanity threaten sustainable living conditions. Nutrition causes health problems such as communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, mental health problems, conflicts and displacement, and reinforcement of inequalities. In this context, it is necessary to talk about concepts such as planetary health and green economy for sustainability and sustainable development. Planetary health has been defined by the Planetary Health Alliance as “a solution-oriented, interdisciplinary field and social movement focused on analyzing and addressing the impacts of anthropogenic disruptions in the Earth's natural systems on human health and all aspects of the world's habitats”. Although the Planetary Health Commission established by the Lancet and the Rockefeller Foundation in 2014 and the report they published attracted more attention, its foundations date back to the 1970s. Similarly, green economy, which is an economic model that protects the environmental system while providing resource efficiency and aims to create welfare for everyone, came to the fore in the 1970s.
Sustainable development goals 2030 have been set for sustainable development. However, in today's living conditions, it is possible to move away from these goals rather than approach them. Planetary health, which offers a wider perspective and calls for action, should come to the fore more in order to achieve these goals and to provide sustainable life. In addition, the application of concepts such as green economy should be encouraged. And health services also need to be reviewed within the framework of these views.

Gezegen Sağlığının Sürdürülebilirliği Kapsamında Atılması Gereken Adımlar

Year 2024, , 390 - 398, 01.05.2024
https://doi.org/10.53394/akd.1218916
