#Bişektomi Etiketli Instagram İçeriklerinin Doğruluk Analizi

Abstract

ÖZ Amaç Sosyal medya platformları, tıbbi ve kozmetik işlemler hakkında bilgi edinmek için popüler bir kaynak haline gelmiştir. Ancak, bu tür içeriklerin doğruluğu sıklıkla sorgulanmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Instagram’da bukkal yağ dokusu eksizyonu ile ilgili gönderilerin doğruluğunu analiz etmeyi ve içeriğin güvenilir bilgi sağlayıp sağlamadığını değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Yöntemler Veriler, #bichectomy ve #buccalfatremoval etiketleri kullanılarak Instagram gönderilerinden toplanmıştır. Her bir etiket için en popüler 100 gönderi; içerik üreticisi, içerik odak noktası, içerik türü, beğeni/görüntüleme sayısı ve iddianın doğruluğu açısından analiz edilmiştir. Doğruluk şu şekilde kategorize edilmiştir: “nesnel olarak doğru”, “seçilmiş gerçekler”, “asgari gerçekler”, “gerçek dışı” ya da “yanlış”. Bulgular Çalışma kriterlerine uyan 154 gönderi analiz edilmiştir. Gönderilerin çoğu (%61,04) “gerçek dışı”, %29,22’si “asgari gerçekler” ve %9,74’ü “seçilmiş gerçekler” olarak değerlendirilmiştir. “Nesnel olarak doğru” ya da “yanlış” iddiaya sahip gönderi bulunmamıştır. Gönderilerin %76,6’sı öncesi-sonrası fotoğraflardan oluşturulmuştur. İçeriklerin %70,8’i klinisyenler tarafından paylaşılmıştır. İddianın doğruluğu ile içerik odak noktası arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunurken (p <0.001), içerik üreticisiyle anlamlı bir ilişki gözlenmemiştir (p = 0.536). Sonuç Bu çalışma, Instagram’da bişektomiye dair kanıta da- yalı bilginin eksikliğini vurgulamaktadır. Klinik kökenli içerik üreticilerinin bile yanlı, eksik veya klinik olarak desteklenmeyen bilgiler paylaşması, Instagram’ın tıbbi bilgi kaynağı olarak güvenilirliği konusunda endişe yaratmaktadır.

#Bichectomy on Instagram: An Accuracy Analysis

Abstract

ABSTRACT Objective Social media platforms have become a popular source of information on medical and cosmetic procedures. However, the accuracy of such content is often questionable. This study aims to analyze the accuracy of Instagram posts related to bichectomy, assessing whether the content provides reliable information. Methods Data was collected from Instagram posts using the hashtags #bichectomy and #buccalfatremoval. The top 100 posts for each hashtag were analyzed based on the content creator, content focus, content type, number of likes and views, and accuracy of the claim(s). Accuracy was labeled as "objectively true," "selected facts," "minimal facts," "non-facts," or "false." Results 154 relevant posts were analyzed. The majority (61.04%) of these were labeled as "non-facts", 29.22% as "minimal facts," and 9.74% as "selected facts” with regards to the accuracy of the claim. None were labeled objectively true or false. Most posts (76.6%) featured before-and-after photos, with clinicians contributing 70.8% of the content. A statistically significant relationship was observed between accuracy of claim and content focus (p <0.001), but not with content creator (p = 0.536). Conclusion The study highlights the lack of evidence-based information on bichectomy on Instagram. Even clinicians frequently share biased, incomplete, or non-clinically supported information, which raises concerns about the reliability of Instagram as a source of medical information.
