Abstract

ABSTRACT
Objective: In our study, the relation of physical activity level with functional capacity, cardiovascular risk factors, menopausal symptoms and quality of life was investigated in postmenopausal women.
Methods: 84 women in the postmenopausal period, between the ages of 45-75, were included in our study. Demographic information of the participants was received. International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) for determination of physical activity level and 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) for assessment of functional capacity were used. Cardiovascular risks were questioned, and Framingham Risk Score calculated. Menopausal symptoms were evaluated by the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS). Quality of life was assessed with Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) and Menopause-Specific Quality of Life Scale (MSQL).
Results: There was no statistically significant relationship between IPAQ with 6MWT, MRS, Framingham score, NHP and MSQL (p> 0.05). A statistically significant correlation was found between the 6MWT distance and the Framingham Score (r=-0.467) and the vasomotor dimension variable of the MSQL (r=0.261) (p <0.05).
Conclusion: It was concluded that the level of physical activity in postmenopausal women included in our study was not associated with functional capacity, cardiovascular risk factors, menopausal symptoms, and quality of life, and that there was a relationship between functional capacity and cardiovascular risk factor and vasomotor menopausal symptoms.
Key Words: Postmenopausal, Physical Activity Level, Menopausal Symptom, Quality of Life, Functional Capacity, Cardiovascular Risk
