Leaf Residue Bioassays on Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) with Different Group Insecticides

Abstract

Bioassays were done with Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) by exposing to leaf residues of 5 insecticides representing different groups namely abamectin, cypermethrin, endosulfan, malathion and methomyl. Mortality of F. occidentalis was 100% in wholly treated leaf arenas almost in all insecticides while it was 100, 87, 82, 37 and 32% for methomyl, abamectin, malathion, endosulfan and cypermethrin, respectively, in half treated leaf arenas which suggest that F. occidentalis may avoid sites sprayed with cypermethrin and endosulfan. Almost all insecticides caused 100% mortality on treated leaf surface while methomyl and abamectin caused 96 and 20% mortality and others no mortality on insecticide free leaf surface which indicated systemic and translaminar activity of the former, respectively. Mortality was 100% with almost all insecticides in F. occidentalis exposed to 1 day old residues while it was 93, 90, 26, 22 and 8% in those exposed to 6 days old residues of abamectin, cypermethrin, methomyl, endosulfan and malathion, respectively. Systemic and translaminar insecticides such as methomyl and abamectin may be more successful than the other 3 classes of insecticides with appropriate application intervals.

FRANKLINIELLA OCCIDENTALIS (PERGANDE) (THYSANOPTERA: THRIPIDAE) ÜZERİNDE FARKLI GRUPLARDAN İNSEKTİSİDLERLE YAPRAK KALINTI TESTLERİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmada laboratuvar testleriyle Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande)’in 5 farklı gruptan insektisid; abamectin, cypermethrin, endosulfan, malathion ve methomyl’e karşı davranışsal tepkileri ile bu ilaçların yaprak dokularına nüfuzlarına ve kalıntı etki sürelerine bağlı olarak etkinlikleri araştırılmıştır. Tümü ilaçlı disklerde elde edilen ölüm oranları %100’e yaklaşırken yarısı ilaçlı yaprak disklerinde elde edilen ölüm oranları; methomyl, abamectin, malathion, endosulfan ve cypermethrin için sırasıyla %100, %87, %82, %37 ve %32’dir. Davranışsal tepkilerle ilgili bu sonuçlar F. occidentalis’in cypermethrin ve endosulfan uygulanan alanlardan davranışsal olarak sakındığını (davranışsal direnç) göstermiştir. İnsektisidlerin uygulandığı üst yüzeyde ölüm oranları %100’e ulaşırken, uygulanmadığı alt yüzeyde tespit edilen ölüm oranları; methomyl ve abamectin’le sırasıyla %96 ve %20; cypermethrin, endosulfan ve malathion için kontrolden az veya ona yakındır. Bu test, methomyl ve abamectin’in sistemik ve translaminar etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermiştir. 1 günlük ilaç kalıntılarında ölüm oranları tümünde yaklaşık %100’dür. Bu ilaçların aynı dozlarda uygulandığı disklerde 6 gün sonra elde edilen ölüm oranları; abamectin, cypermethrin, methomyl, endosulfan ve malathion için sırasıyla %93, %90, %26, %22 ve %8 olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlar methomyl ve abamectin gibi sistemik ve translaminar insektisidlerin uygulanma aralıkları düzenlenmek suretiyle diğer 3 sınıf insektiside oranla daha başarılı olabileceğini göstermektedir
