With the development of active audience research, the question “What does media do to people?” has given way to “What do people do with the media?”. Reception studies, developed based on the assumption that viewers exhibit active participation rather than passive participation in the television viewing process, focus on how viewers interpret mass media and its messages. In this study, The Protector, the first Turkish series debuted on Netflix’s streaming service, an international platform, was analyzed through the reception analysis of the British School of Cultural Studies and Stuart Hall. In-depth interviews were conducted with 15 university students whose age range is 18 to 25 in the study. How viewers received the series in order to determine similarities and differences in the reception was analyzed. As a result of the study, it was found that viewers participated in the study decode meanings according to the fact that the series was streamed from an international digital platform. In this context, results of the study put forward that the profile of the digital platform they follow affects the reception process.
